What we see here is a photo of a mesh between a duck and a crocodile. The Photo has been touched up by a careful application of photo shop. I enjoy seeing these pictures now knowing what i know about the use of photo shop it is easy to understand the process a photo like this undertook.

All over Ashland I am seeing Poppies. They are thoroughly my favorite flower for their soft texture matched with their fiery colorings which create a duo that makes a very unique beauty and glow of intensity... This photo captures that contrast perfectly.

I find that tasteful nudes are very beautiful. The art here is to elegantly display the natural human body in all its form. There is often a thin line between obscenity and art. I strongly feel that to the left is a perfect example of an artfully done nude...

The Tattoo art movement is very impressive. Especially in this picture. The amount of time, and money, that is invested into these permanent pieces of body art makes the art that much more special. There is a certain majestic beauty when one turns their body into a visual piece of art.

I think that this is a very interesting piece of art work. The media itself is very unique. Being hood art, i am not sure what the amount of work done in this category is. But the colors and the 3-d image make for a very unique feeling. It has an almost oily sheen quality to it.

To me these two photos of a marine having a close call in Afghanistan capture the true nature of war. While both casual and immediate we see the realism of what is going on. This picture brings the war right to our faces by capturing the near death of one of our service men.

This is a picture from the New York Times of an Indian from Columbia who has been ousted from his home village, along with hundreds others. This is due to the fighting taking place in the frontier regions in order for rival rebel groups to obtain control of cocaine smuggling routes and growing/ processing centers.

Since my major is photojournalism I find pictures that appear in the news media as the most interesting to me. It is amazing how pictures can tell so much about a story through visual context. In the image above we get a very sad almost nightmarish feel of what is happening in the jungles of Columbia. To me this picture is the essence of photojournalism because it helps me imagine the plight of these peasants being uprooted from their homes, all for drugs and power. But also, this photo delivers this to us in a very artistic light. Conveying these ideas to us through use of contrast, lighting, and appropriate depth of field.

This photo came out of the war is Iraq. I feel the power of this photo comes from the light reflection off the impending dust storm, coupled with the shifted vertical lines. The contrast of the dark silhouetted human figures against the golden backdrop adds an element of excitement and action to this scene. This photo invokes an element of passion in me.

Motion and Action: a study of Criss crossing

We talked a lot about how diagonal lines can create a feeling of motion and action in an image or photograph. I thought these two pictures, done in black and white, capture the essence of the action mood created by diagonal lines. There are strong currents of motion, speed, and movement present in both shots. Truly wonderful pictures.

Scratch work

This is my assignment for the Scratch project. I put a lot of emotion into my robot who is welcoming in the fall season. There is not much more to be said, except that i have dabbled into the realm of shadowing. while very basic; i feel that my Robot grasps the feeling of the seasons and their tragic nature of perpetually changing.

This image I feel relates to the economic situation we were faced with in the Past Iraq war. In my personal perspective it is astounding that the idea of war profiteering is a new concept for most people i talk with. But i fear that Halliburton is not the first to conduct such a social crime. Since the dawn of warfare we have seen that Most in the upper crusts of society profit from the wars conducted and those at the bottom, fighting in the trenches, take the brunt of the burden. This Image very clearly states this. *In an almost mock-advertisement fashion, the cartoonist portrays his message vividly. I feel that the use of the two colors in a flat color scheme add to the mood and vividness of the cartoon. It clearly states a social message that many are conducting this war, not for the betterment of Iraq or the world, but for the betterment of their wallets and bank accounts.

Today is the first time i have ever posted a blog. I have always been skeptical of posts, because i feel that it takes away from interpersonal face to face relations. I also do not like the idea of blogging because i have always thought that some peoples ideas are just not worth hearing and i do not like feeling pressure to read whatever they feel is important at the moment.
